An Olive Rock Wedding


Looking back as a performer, there are venues that you would happily avoid in the future and those that you would happily go back to. One of the later is the Olive Rock wedding venue.

A few kilometres outside Tulbagh and before Wolesley in the Western Cape, this place is truly pretty.

Green lawns against a magnificent mountain backdrop for the ceremony and then a small walk down some stone steps to the pre-drinks area which has been reconstituted from a very old and rocky stream bed.

The balcony of the venue overlooks this area so we set up the live set gear on the edge of that balcony where the sound would carry down to the guests. Ideal as it meant that we could just turn everything around quickly for the actual reception. Ideal as well in that we did not intrude on conversations and friend reunions.

A large Bedouin tent with twinkling lights, candles, magic place settings and flowers, turned this large balcony into a magical fairyland as darkness fell. What an amazing place for a wedding!

A very decent crowd with intelligent speeches, lots of love and togetherness made our day.

The food was amazing, the wine flowed and we did ourselves proud music wise.

That part of the world, with its awe inspiring natural craggy beauty, with mountains and streams in abundance, is worth a trip to. Even if you are not a potential bride and groom, the couple of restaurants and similar establishments along that route are really worth a visit.

Festivals are really so much fun for us to play at.

We have so much music ranging over so many genre’s that it is a “no brainer” for the many venues that approach us to place a booking.
We do best in a classy setting where the food and wine is of exceptional quality. Good food, great wine and amazing music attracts great people. We specifically cater for that market made up of classy people that enjoy the good spoils of life.

We have the perfect sound systems for this that can play in rain and sun alike as long as we the musicians are covered.

We don’t approach festivals with the aim for people to sit down and listen quietly to our music, although it sometimes turns out that way spontaneously. We aim to create a festive vibe with a variety of acts to entertain guests in an informal way. We want to hear those bubbly outbursts, laughter and festiveness in between our music creations.

We set up all our equipment and simply change between many instruments and acts depending on how the day progresses. We also DJ in between our live acts, which makes it possible for us to go on for a whole day and create a party in the evening if required.

All and all. You’ll get a variety of exceptional musical acts, a great DJ and crystal clear sound for an entire day in one neat easy package. Like I said earlier: It’s a no brainer.

Award Ceremonies


Award ceremonies are invariably classy, black tie affairs which of course is what man with music is all about.

We’ll do at least three acts of music, possibly more. Some jazzy piano for arrival. Funky guitar for starters and classy saxes for main meals. Then possibly  some appropriate DJ tracks for after the formalities, Just to get a bit of a groove going and break the ice.

We have all the sound equipment you’ll ever need. Guest speakers are spoiled with cordless microphones as well.
We can arrange screens, TV’s, lighting, stages or just about anything else you might require.

All we require is a quick briefing and a program to follow.

Cocktail Functions


Cocktail functions are held to allow guests to converse and be entertained.

Have your guests mingling and swaying to funky tunes. We provide a live/DJ act powerful enough to WOW, and subtle enough to form part of the background ambience. The perfect compromise.



This is how I approach weddings.

We normally have three to four different locations where music and sound equipment is required. These being; Ceremony, canapes or pre-drinks, dinner/reception and then the dance floor.
We set up separate music systems for each one of these. In other words, there will be a small low profile system at the ceremony, a medium one at canapes / pre-drinks and a beefy mother of a system for the party stuff later.

When you hire man with music you get the advantage of entertaining your guests with live music at all these different places. Here is an example:
A classy piano act for the ceremony.  Beautiful melodies to welcome everyone to that special wedding.

Pre-drinks or canapes. I developed a super cool guitar looping project for this. It’s elegant and funky and works great on a small stage as a visual and aural center piece. In other words, it is great to look at and great to listen to while you are mingling with guests with glasses of bubbles.
Moving on to the reception . The couple has made their grand entrance and everyone is very chatty. Starters are getting served. I suggest here simply playing some background dinner music in a dj style .

Speeches and then the main course. During dinner I do a really slick and unique multi instrument performance on saxes, flutes and all sorts of little blowing instruments like harmonica, melodica, panpipes and penny whistles – Very entertaining and really wow factor stuff.

Then the opening of the dance floor and off to the DJ set of your life.  Later on I add some live saxes and flute to the mix of  viby modern tunes.

Then we trash the place, put ties around our heads, have sex in the bathrooms and do all the other beautiful things that happen at weddings. Party!
